PV Recommendations
It’s important to carry cash in Puerto Vallarta, as most businesses do not accept credit cards. Many restaurants accept USD, but their exchange rate is lower than the ATMs, so we recommend using Pesos.
We’ve always received a good exchange rate from the Banorte ATM in Zona Romantica.

• Coco’s Kitchen - This is our favorite breakfast spot, located in an open-air patio. The food is delicious, there is rarely a wait, and they accept credit cards for purchases over $20.
• La Palapa - While most restaurants on the beach are overpriced, this is an exception, with a wonderful ambiance and affordable menu. You can sit in the sand on the beach or in the covered section of the restaurant. The food and service are great here.
• Ono Smoothie Bowls & Cafe - If you’re looking for a lighter option, this a great casual spot for an acai bowl. They also have good coffee here.
• Fredy’s Tucan - This is of the most popular breakfast restaurants in PV. The food here is good, but expect to wait 30-60 minutes for a table.
• The Pancake House - Just a block away from Fredy’s Tucan is the 2nd most popular breakfast spot in PV. The menu is similar, and you should expect a similar wait time.

• Tacos Revolucion - A quick and easy spot to get tacos and margaritas. The salsas here are really good.
Tip: If you want to ask for chips with your salsa, the Spanish word is “totopos”.• Don Chava Taqueria - Another option for tacos and margaritas. The tacos here are slightly better, but the salsas aren’t quite as flavorful.
• Pepe’s Tacos - This one requires an uber, but these are regarded as some of the best al pastor tacos in the whole city.
What to get: Tacos al pastor• Maria Baja - This is a hole-in-the-wall serving up some of the best fish (and other seafood) tacos in town.
What to get: Baja camarón (shrimp) tacos, baja pescado (fish) tacos.• Bonito - If you want a break from tacos, this Asian restaurant is one of our favorite spots. The outdoor patio is super cute, their drinks are beautiful and tasty, and the dumplings and entrees are delicious.
What to get: Lobster dumplings, kimchi fried rice.• Yeo - Continuing in the realm of Asian food, Yeo is a high-end restaurant with some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. It’s expensive and the service is slow, but it’s worth the splurge.
What to get: Sake citrus roll• L´Angolo di Napoli - Located just across the river in El Centro, this restaurant serves surprisingly delicious pizza and pasta.
• Derby City Burgers - If you’re craving good old fashioned American food, you can get your fix of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and fried pickles here.
* Note on Pancho’s Takos - This taqueria gets a lot of hype and is the first place anyone will recommend. The line is often 30 minutes to an hour long, and our opinion is that it’s a little overrated and not worth the wit.

• Bar La Playa - This is a very small bar with friendly bartenders and delicious, affordable cocktails.
• Blondies - I’m not sure why, but Blondies has an almost cult following with PV tourists. While their frozen drinks are nothing to write home about, having a slushy here on a hot day is basically a right of passage.
• Mr. Flamingo - If you’re looking to dance, this is the place to be. While technically a gay bar, anyone can come here to have a great time. They play recognizable American pop hits, with quirky flamingo-centered music videos playing on the screen. It’s open-air, so the party spills out onto the street. From here, walk down the street and explore the other bars in the area.

• Elite Spa Massage - Unwind with a very affordable massage here (~$45 for a 60-minute massage).
• Metamorfosis Day Spa - This is another highly-rated spa that also offers manicures and pedicures.
